Can Spacepak be used as the only/primary source for heating a 9,000 sq ft home in Illinois?

  2. Hi,

Other steps you can take include, replacing incandescent bulbs with fluorescent lamps, this could save up to 75% on lighting costs. You should also caulk all windows, doors, and pipes to prevent air leaks in or out, use weather stripping around windows, doors and pipes as well. Have your ducts tested for air leaks; leaking ducts can reduce the efficiency of your air conditioner by up to 20%.

We have an old Speacepak unit (>20 years). Though it works, it must have much lower efficiency than new ones.

What will it take to retrofit the old unit? Can we get away by changing the cooling unit only or do we need to change the compressor as well? Also, is there any need to change the ducts?

Any idea how much will this cost?

    Thank you.

The website says it costs about $25,000 to install. Why so much.

I just want to add to my current system and run it to 2-3 rooms in my upstairs. My house is only 4 yrs old but the current units are undersized. Would this be a good alternative?

  5. flora says:

I think my system is causing musty odor in my house.
I am also told that the large tubing duct needs to be removed it is made of fiberglass. can you advise on these two items.
my system was put in by the contractor in 2005>

I can’t find anywhere on your website for contact information or who handles your product in my area.

We have an older model space-pak unit.
It has a bad fan motor. Are parts available? The unit was installed about 1970.

Can the vent work tie into an existing units ductwork?
